Ford's F-Series pickup trucks are arguably the most iconic chassis for American consumers. Spanning 75 years of production, the truck has won over the sensibilities of domestic consumers for the better part of a century, and modern incarnations such as the F-150 Lightning are no exception.

But enthusiasts sometimes yearn for the styling and simplicity of late models, banking on nostalgia to remind them of what these formative childhood vehicles looked and drove like. And Velocity Modern Classics wants to make reliving that feeling a bit easier, as it launches its line of resto-modified Ford F100 trucks.

Known for restoring classic Ford Broncos and Chevrolet K5 Blazers, the Pensacola, Florida-based company is applying those same principles to a group 1967-72 Velocity Signature Series F-100 with a modern twist. Powered by a Ford Performance Gen III 5.0L Coyote V8, these nearly 60-year-old trucks are making 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, running through a Ford 10R80 automatic transmission. Velocity even engineered a proprietary serpentine system to properly package the internal running of the Coyote V8.

This Ford F100 won't turn and stop like your Grandpa's either. Velocity's version is equipped with Fox coil-overs front and rear as well as independent front suspension and a Ford 9-inch rear axle with a 3.73 gear ratio. Stopping power is provided by Baer four-piston calipers with 13-inch rotors spinning through.

Velocity tried to honor the original styling of the F-100 while adding modern safety amenities like LED headlights and all-new weather seals. With so much added power, a pair of 18-inch Forgeline wheels wrapped with 245/50R18 Michelin tires were essential for maintaining grip. And the interior design carries over this period-correct philosophy, as it features a custom bench seat, a Velocity-exclusive Dakota Digital gauge cluster, power windows, and a carpeted interior. Vintage Air also provided modern climate controls, a must-have for a 1960s-built truck.

Everything from six-piston front brakes and billet interior trim pieces to 20-inch wheels and two-tone custom paint is also available for those looking for more performance or a unique style. But prepare yourself for a steep bill whether or not you select options, as the Velocity Modern Classics F-100 series starts at $279,900. Is it worth it? That's between you and your wallet to decide, but this F-100 appears to be more than the sum of its parts.
