After nearly a year of events around the globe, the Hot Wheels Legends Tour finally hit its last stop at Jay Leno’s Garage, where, out of 10 finalists, the esteemed panel of judges picked Lee Johnstone’s 1969 Volvo P1800 to take the top prize. This Volvo gasser will live on in eternity as die-cast toy cars as a celebration of its victory.

This Volvo gasser sports a supercharged 454 CID Chevrolet mill and is reported to lap the asphalt aisle in the 10s. This wild gasser might seem unorthodox in a world dominated by Tri-Five Chevrolets and pre-war Willys coupes and pickups, but this Volvo checks all of the boxes you’d expect from a modern retro-inspired racer.

Johnstone made his way to the final picks through the Hot Wheels Legends Tour’s stop in the UK. Based in Somerset, England, Johnstone’s gasser probably turns as many heads at the strip as it does on the way to it.

Johnstone’s Volvo joins Greg Salzillo’s incredible 1957 Nash Metropolitan, Riley Stair’s widebody 1970 Pontiac Firebird, and Luis Rodriguez’s jet-inspired 2Jetz as fellow Legends Tour winners and die-cast creations.
