The Goodwood Road & Racing YouTube channel might be the best thing on the internet. Even when it's not the Festival of Speed or Revival, it's always uploading content. The Festival, with its throngs of crowds was cancelled due to the pandemic, but instead it held Speedweek, a weekend of racing just for the drivers. That's where this video comes from.

Le Mans winner Marino Franchitti starts from pole piloting a Maserati Tipo 61, and is followed by dozens of other Maseratis, Listers, Coopers and more. It's the 2020 Lavant Cup, which "combined elements of the Sussex Trophy for later '50s sportscars and the Freddie March Memorial Trophy for the slightly earlier racers from the 1950s, both staple races of the Goodwood Revival. The original Lavant Cup was held in 1962.

Seeing these narrow-tired vehicles at the limit is the best part of Goodwood, and as fun as it is to watch big American sheetmetal being whipped around the track, this might be better. Does Franchitti go wire to wire? Watch to find out.
