The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover remains the company’s standard bearer for upscale adventuring. Now in its fifth generation, this latest Rangie sticks with the luxurious appointments that have made it a hit among luxury SUV fans, and it offers some interesting solutions for comfort off-road.

Most importantly, the new Range Rover ushers in new powertrains. While the hybrid and mild-hybrid units might be more popular, the 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 could be the most fun of the bunch. The V8 powering this tester sends 523 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek’s executive editor Tom Murphy puts the latest Range Rover through its paces and walks you around it to highlight some of its features before climbing inside to tell you about the interior (see gallery). Later, Murphy takes you along on a live drive review of the ’23 Range Rover LWB. Joining the fun, host Wesley Wren chats with Murphy about the new Range Rover, the status of the company and what this car competes against. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the ’23 Range Rover special.
